After 4 decades of teaching, retired Italian teacher Antonio La Cava decided that he could still share his passion for books to more children. That’s why in 2003, he got himself an Ape motorbike and customized it into a mobile library that displays about 700 books!

Since the day it was built, he goes to different villages in the southern part of Basilicata region of Italy.  Music of an organ echoes the streets as he arrive each village and children run to his truck with excitement. The best thing about it all is that he does all this for free. In an interview, Antonio La Cava said “A disinterest in reading often starts in schools where the technique is taught, but it’s not being accompanied by love. Reading should be a pleasure, not a duty.”
